REDPATH OCCUPANT PROTECTION SYSTEM

Manufactured from advanced fibre composites the ingenuity of this mining industry safety system is its capability to impede penetration of mining off-cut objects such as rock bolts, gooey bars, drill steels and split sets that are flung up by the vehicle´s tyres through the floor pan whilst the vehicle is travelling at maximum underground speed of 40kph.

TRIPLE 8 RACING

When Holden and Red Bull Racing Australia wanted to update their dashboards with the new MyLink System, LSM was called on to re-engineer and redesign the race dash to resemble the road version before tooling up and manufacturing in-house. The entire process took just 4 weeks and since then, every Holden V8 Supercar team in the 2014 season is equipped with the LSM manufactured dashboard.

SUBMERSIBLE PILOT SPHERE

The pilot sphere was the cockpit within which James Cameron navigated the submarine to the deepest part of the Mariana Trench. The 1m diameter sphere was internally lined with phenolic carbon fibre as were a number of fittings, fixtures and structures to contain the life support and technical equipment.

UNIT SKYCRAFT

Officially launched to an international audience at the American International Motorcycle Expo in Florida on 17th October 2013, the Unit “Skycraft” is the world’s first purpose built freestyle motocross machine.

LSM built the heavy duty carbon fibre monocoque frame which contains the fuel cell as well as the carbon fibre swingarm which has the muffler integrated inside it. At just 75 kilograms (165 pounds), the bike is over 25 percent lighter than a standard motocross machine.

ARROW SOLAR CAR

The World Solar Challenge is a biennial solar-powered car race which covers 3,021km across Australia.

Team Arrow, based in Brisbane, entered the Challenger category, which is defined as “Visually stunning – slick, single seat aerodynamic masterpieces built for sustained endurance and total energy efficiency”

LSM´s participation in the Team Arrow project was the construction of a carbon fibre monocoque. Construction took 16 weeks, from tooling, manufacturing of the composite components and final assembly.
